[OZ CARDINAL] 9-11. Lou’s younger brother. Quiet. Small, shy. He is sometimes dismissed by

his older sister for being seemingly naïve, but still looks up to her. LEAD

 

[DIAMOND SKINNER] 10-14. A skinny, mischievous "mountain boy" with an authentic southern accent.LEAD

 

[COTTON LONGFELLOW] 30s, this tall, lanky, rumpled mountain attorney is a descendant of the famous poet.

 [EUGENE RANDALL] 20s, this massively muscular African-American man was taken in by

Louisa after being orphaned some years ago --an action that has riled the racists in the area. A

hard-working and loyal individual, he helps Louisa on her farm, and later testifies on her behalf

with surprising eloquence...LEAD
